Hello! I’m J aka Laura.

I am a new romance, dark romance author hailing from the lush green landscapes of a small village in the East of Scotland.

I love reading and writing books about romance with a twist, romance that is hard fought, hard won and sometimes hard work. I believe in the beauty of true love, the solemnity of grief and the wisdom of heartache. I root for the underdog, the downtrodden and the weather beaten. I love a bad guy who only turns good for that one girl and I also love the morally grey man who will stop at nothing to get his woman.

I like to write about the realities of life, from domestic violence, to mental health, grief, death and the complexities of parenthood. I will often write from experience and other times from the experience of others and the many stories I have learned along the way.

Writing and reading are escapes for me while also a way for me to flex my creative muscle and utilise my vast vocabulary.

I worked for 20 years in customer service before going back to study and attaining a degree in Law in 2020. I started writing in between jobs as a hobby and found that I loved writing books almost as much as I loved reading them. I am a mama to a grown daughter, sister to an angel and a daughter to the best parents ever imagined.

I am just getting started on this writing journey and I look forward to taking you with me.
